Kathryn
Becoming an Australian citizen is a commitment and a privilege that offers immense rewards. And it secures your future in this country.
Australia is a beautiful and privileged country. Australia performs well in many dimensions of well-being relative to other countries, outperforming the average in income, jobs, education, health, environmental quality, social connections, civic engagement and life satisfaction (OECD Better Life Index)
We understand that for many clients, their desired goal is to settle in Australia permanently.
KTA MIGRATION will guide you to this goal. We have helped many of our Clients call Australia home.
AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP
Citizenship can be acquired through Birth; Adoption; Descent; resuming your Australian Citizenship; and Conferral.
In applying for Australian Citizenship by Conferral, you must be an Australian Permanent Resident or, from 1 July 2023, a New Zealand Citizen holding a Special Category visa (SCV) Subclass 444.
You must meet the General Residence Requirement which requires that, at time of applying, you must:
have been living in Australia on a valid visa for 4 years immediately before the day you apply;
hold a permanent visa or a Special Category 444 visa for the last 12 months immediately before the day you apply; and
not have been absent from Australia for more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in total in the 12 months immediately before applying.
Exemptions to this residence requirement exist for eligible applicants. KTA MIGRATION can provide Submissions on your behalf.
NEW ZEALAND CITIZENS
From 1 July 2023, changes to eligibility criteria have permitted pathways to Australian Citizenship for New Zealand Citizens holding a Special Category 444 visa.
RESIDENT RETURN VISAS
Permanent visas are granted with a 5-year travel validity period. This means that you must renew this travel validity every five (5) years should you wish to continue travelling in and out of Australia as an Australian Permanent Resident.
KTA MIGRATION can support you in meeting these requirements; as well as supporting former Australian Permanent Residents seeking to regain their Permanent Resident status.
This information relates to Subclasses 155 and 157 visas.
