EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME 186
This is a permanent visa that enables skilled overseas workers to be employed or continue employment with their nominating business, ultimately settling in Australia as Australian Permanent Residents.
Pathways include:
- TRTS: for Subclass 457/482 visa holders who have worked with their sponsoring employer within an eligible occupation for the last 3 years NB. Changes released late November 2023 have reduced this time from 3 years to 2 years.
Further note changes of 7 December 2024 that allow full-time, sponsored employment undertaken in the occupation in Australia on a 457/482 visa to be counted towards the ENS 186 work experience requirement of 2 years. This change means that if a 457/482 visa holder changes Sponsors, their time towards the 2 years does not re-set. Previously, the work experience requirement only allowed time spent in the position i.e. with the same employer (with limited exceptions for certain occupations and employment with associated entities) to be counted towards the 2 years;
- Direct Entry: for overseas workers who have never, or only briefly, worked in the Australian labour market. Applicants must hold a positive Skills Assessment and 3 years of relevant employment experience in their nominated ANZSCO occupation; and
- Agreement: for applicants who are being sponsored by an employer through a tailored and negotiated Labour Agreement.
You must be under 45 years of age at time of applying. KTA MIGRATION can assist with Submissions for exemptions to this Age requirement (if eligible).
